Elke Kampfer, 82, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on August 1, 2026.Born on April 21, 1944, in Radolfzell am Bodensee, Germany, Elke lived a life marked by love for her family, creativity, and a passion for making every place she lived feel like home. She married the love of her life, Rainer Kampfer, in 1963. Together they began their life in Germany before moving to the United States in 1966, where they built a future filled with family and cherished memories.
Elke found great joy in caring for her beautiful flower gardens, where her love of nature was evident in every bloom. She also enjoyed decorating her home and was always working on a new do-it-yourself project. Her creativity, warm spirit, and attention to detail made her home a welcoming place for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra VanTuyl; her son, Andrew Kampfer; her son-in-law, Michael VanTuyl; and her beloved grandson, Adam VanTuyl.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rainer Kampfer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens in her memory.
A Graveside Service will be held at Faith Memorial Park, 8100 Highway 20 West, Huntsville, AL 35806, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00 am.
