It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rhonda Gurley Patterson, a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. Rhonda passed away at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, on August 30, 1955, Rhonda was a proud graduate of Lee High School. She dedicated her professional life to the well-being of others, serving as the head Nurse Practitioner at the County Health Department in Guntersville, Alabama, until her retirement in 2022. Her compassion and dedication to her patients were a testament to her caring nature, as she always went the extra mile for anyone in need.
Rhonda’s talents were as boundless as her heart. A high achiever with a flair for interior design, she turned every house she lived in into a beautiful home. Her quick wit and infectious laughter could fill any room with insurmountable joy, making every moment with her a cherished memory. Over her lifetime, Rhonda cultivated a deep and enduring faith that grew stronger with each passing day, providing her with strength and peace.
Rhonda is preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond K. (Skip) Gurley and Ricky David (Rick) Gurley; her mother, Dorothy D. Gurley; her father, Raymond Gurley; her nephew, Clinton Taylor (CT) Gurley; and her great-nephew, Jacob Xavier (Jake) Roberts.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Patterson of Guntersville; her sister, Belinda Gurley of Huntsville; a sister-in-law, Kathy Gurley; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
In Rhonda’s honor, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering on August 30, 2026, to celebrate all that she accomplished and all that she loved. Services will take place at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00pm.
Rhonda’s life was an enduring gift and a shining example, to all who were lucky enough to know her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
