Mary Margaret Woods, age 92, of Northport, AL, formerly of Vernon, AL, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Vernon, AL. Bro. Kenny Gardner to officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral services from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Mary was born on February 6, 1934 in San Diego, California to the late Paul and Julia Varga Pitts. She graduated from Sweetwater Union High School on June 13, 1952. Mary worked at Bank of America, Austin’s Office Interiors, and co-owned Woody’s Bait and Tackle in Lakeside, California. She was married to Charles Nathan Woods on April 1, 1953. They were married for 45 years until his passing on October 24, 1998. Her and Charles devoted multiple years to fostering children in Lamar County, including Gracie Carter, Tracie Rogers, Marie James, Doug Troller, Jamie Troller, and Gloria McKay. Mary enjoyed going to yard sales, shopping, and traveling, but especially loved spending time with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and her bright spirit and unconditional loving heart will forever be cherished by all who loved and knew her. Mary was a member of Open Door Christian Fellowship Church in Millport, AL
