James L. Camp  James L. Camp, age 80 of the Dogtown community, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. He was born in DeKalb County on September 13, 1945 to the late Harvel & Mazine Slaton Camp. He retired as a truck driver from Sara Lee Bakery and was a proud member of the Teamster’s Union. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shaunathan Bell & Rev. James McDonough officiating. Burial will follow in the Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
He is survived by his children, Pam (David) Clanton, Eddie Boykin, Janice (Kent) Garrett, and Chris (Chawntay) Camp; brother, Jason Camp; sisters, Patsy Jolley, Wanda Smith and Peggy Bowman; grandchildren, Hilery (Randall) McCullough, Dexter (Sarah) Clanton, Dustin (Alyssa) Heard, Savannah (Jesse) Bowman, Gavin (Payton) Camp, and Darwin (Laci) Camp; great-grandchildren, Avery McCullough, Rowan McCullough, Morgan McCullough, Shepherd Clanton, Poppy James Clanton, Jayce Bowman, and Elodie Heard; sister-in-law, Margaret Camp; and special nephew, Robby Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Camp; parents; brothers, Tommy Camp and Bill Camp; sister-in-law, Vannie Camp; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Jolley
