ATHENS —The Velcro Pygmies are back to close out our final Fridays After Five of the season!
Known for their high-energy ’80s rock ’n’ roll performances, the Velcro Pygmies know how to keep the crowd singing, dancing and wanting more! After an unforgettable show last year, we are excited to welcome them back to the stage and end the season with a bang!
Leading up to the main performance, Open Door Logistics will provide DJ entertainment beginning at 5 p.m.!
Gather your friends, pack a lawn chair and join us for an evening of live music and family-friendly fun in downtown Athens! Enjoy food trucks, a Kids Zone sponsored by Taylor’s Cool Treats and extended shopping and dining hours from 5 to 9 p.m. It’s sure to be a night you won’t want to miss!

Leading up to the show, Mobile’s own Blow House Band will bring the energy with a live Mardi Gras-style Second Line performance. Guests are encouraged to join the procession, beginning at Old Black Bear Brewing Co. at 6 p.m. and ending at the front stage to help kick off the Velcro Pygmies performance at 7 p.m.
During the event, guests can also stop by Merchants Alley for a live performance by local favorite BAN, featuring Brad Mallette, Andy Clem and Nathan Rodriguez. The trio will bring a lively mix of music to the alley, adding even more entertainment to the evening, playing from 5:30-7 p.m.
Throughout the district, guests can expect extended shopping and dining hours, blue cup specials, food trucks and a variety of vendors and games in the Kids Zone. This event is free and open to the public beginning at 5 p.m.
