It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Martinez, who left us peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on May 5, 1940, in Brunswick, TN, Doris was the cherished daughter of Jesse and Ollie Mae Box. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be profoundly missed.
Doris was a passionate interior designer who found joy in transforming spaces and making them beautiful. She also loved crafting jewelry and had a special affinity for collecting gemstones. Yet, her true passion lay in her unwavering love for her family and her compassionate heart. Doris had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel valued and cared for. She was well-known for her generosity, often going out of her way to help anyone in need, including picking up the homeless and offering them warmth, nourishment, and companionship.
A devoted member of Victory Heights Baptist Church, Doris drew strength and inspiration from her faith, which guided her in her service to others. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jules Martinez; her devoted daughter Nanette Jaco; her treasured granddaughters Bobbie Stevens and Jessica Tyer (David); her grandson Johnathan Gatlin (Elly); and a legacy of love that includes eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Talmadge Jaco.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heart’n Soul Hospice and Majestic Gardens for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time.
In remembrance of Doris Martinez, let us carry forward her kindness, compassion, and the love she so generously gave to all.
