Toney Steven “Steve” Rochelle, a man with a heart as big as his presence, passed away comfortably on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 62 years old.
Born on August 13, 1963, Steve was a pillar of his community. For nearly three decades, he served his neighbors as a master mechanic, a trade he poured his heart and expertise into. Known not just for his skill under the hood but for his honesty, dependability, and willingness to help anyone in a fix, Steve’s shop was more than a place of business—it was a cornerstone of the community. His presence, his reliability, and his helping hand will be deeply missed by the countless locals who came to rely on him over the years.
When he wasn’t working, Steve lived life to the fullest. He was an avid hunter, a master of the barbecue grill, and happiest when he was spending quality time with the people he cherished most. He was a big man who loved just as big, and his laughter, his cooking, and his generous spirit leave a void that won’t easily be filled.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Howard Rochelle and Hazel Jean Boyett Rochelle.
His legacy of love and service lives on through his family. He is survived by his children, Howard, Larry (Breanna), and Amanda; his brothers, Stan (Leah), Mike, and Dickie (Val); and his sister, Pam. He also leaves behind a large, loving circle of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many cousins who meant the world to him.

The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, July 24, 2026, from 2pm until 4pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home with Brother Hank Crim officiating. Cremation burial will then follow in Plainview Cemetery.
