Mary Lou Faulkner, 73, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, in Huntsville.

Born in Fairfield, Alabama, on May 23, 1953, she was the beloved daughter of Fred and Priscilla Laney. Mary Lou grew up in Huntsville, attending Butler High School, where she graduated in 1971.

Following her passion for helping others, she earned her degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 1975. Mary Lou dedicated over 30 years of her life as a compassionate Registered Nurse (R.N.) at Huntsville Hospital, leaving a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues.

Beyond her professional life, Mary Lou was deeply involved in many charitable organizations. She had a vibrant spirit and enjoyed crafting, bowling, and playing softball. Above all, she had a profound love for animals and cherished the companionship of the many different pets she cared for over the years.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by, her husband, Jerry Faulkner, her parents, Fred and Priscilla Laney, and her sister-in-law, Teresa Laney.

She is survived by a loving family, including her brothers, John Laney and Charles Laney and wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Rita Hill and husband, Larry; nephews, Terry Bridges, Starbuck Laney and wife, Lori, and Matthew Laney and wife, Whitney; niece, Athena Walker and husband, John; great-nephews and great-nieces, Nicholas Bridges, Owen, Evan and Nora Laney, Taylor Johnson and husband, Jacob, and Cooper and Caroline Laney; and special friend, Melinda Bush.

 

A graveside service to celebrate Mary Lou’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

 

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at UAB Hospital, Huntsville Hospital, and Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care for their compassionate support and exceptional care.
