Billy Joe Brewer, 73, passed away in his home on July 15th 2026, at 4:45 am from complications of Alzheimer’s. He was surrounded by his family and friends during his final days.
Preceded in death by his father, Joe Brewer; mother, Louise Brewer; sister, Betty Perry; nephew, Richard Perry; and brother-in-law, Donald Perry.
Survivors include wife, Pamela Brewer, two daughters, Nikki/Brandon Curnel, five grandchildren, Will, Lainey/Whitney, Julia, Wyatt, and Josey, and two nieces, Jennifer and Bridget.
Billy went to work at Dunlop Tire in 1975. He was elected as the President of United Steelworkers Local 915, and served as President until 2004, when he was appointed as a District 9 Staff Representative of the United Steelworkers International Union. Billy negotiated contracts for and represented workers in many different industries until his retirement in 2017.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel at 11:00 am, with Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery in New Market, Alabama.
