On July 10, 2026, Elizabeth Faye Goggins, age 92, entered into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Faye was born to Tom and Evelyn Miller of the Bald Hill community on August 5, 1933. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and devotion that carried her through both
seasons of joy and times of sorrow. Those who knew Faye will remember her gentle spirit, warm smile, and servant’s heart. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed and loved. Faye was a faithful member of Cairo Baptist Church for many years, where she served and sang in the choir. In her later years she became a cherished member of Carey Springs Baptist Church. She deeply loved both church families and treasured the friendships she formed in each of them.
Faye was blessed to share her life with two remarkable men. She first married Rev. Johnny Whitehead, a devoted, loving husband and minister. Their time together was cut tragically short when Johnny passed away from injuries sustained in the explosion at Sunshine Mills in 1977.
Years later, God graciously blessed her with another loving and Godly husband, Tilton (Boonie) Goggins. While Mamaw Faye loved many people, nothing brought greater happiness to her heart than her family. She cherished her daughter and son-in-law and was immensely proud of her grandsons and their families. Her love for each of them was unconditional, and she delighted in every opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, share in their joys, and surround them with her prayers.
Though her family and friends mourn her passing, we can only imagine the joy of her reunion with loved ones who have gone before her and the glorious moment when she heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Debbie and Donald Brown; her grandson, Shane Brown and wife Brittany, and their children Gracie Crouch (Weston), Faith and Charity Brown, and grandson Ashley Brown and wife Mandee and their children Zander Nichols, Hope, Gunner and Wyatt Brown; Three sisters; Betty McMillen, Jean Sanford, and Rita Albritton, one sister in law; Brenda Miller and a host of nieces and nephews including one that she was extremely close with, Anita Miller.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Evelyn Miller; her first husband, Rev. Johnny Whitehead; and her second husband, Boonie Goggins, her brother Bill Miller, her brothers in law Jim McMillen, Harold Sanford and Robert Albritton, nephew Mitchell McMillen and niece Cindy Davis.
