Sweet Pups Waiting For You!

Pet Of The Week

Everybody… meet Sadie Mae.
Some dogs bark, jump, and do everything they can to get your attention.
Sadie Mae isn’t one of those dogs.
Instead, she quietly watches from her kennel… hoping someone will see past her fear and notice the beautiful soul hiding underneath.
Sadie is estimated to be 3-4 years old, and she’s a little girl carrying a heart that’s been broken somewhere along the way. We don’t know everything she’s been through, but we do know she didn’t learn to be this afraid overnight.
She’s incredibly shy with new people. She doesn’t immediately trust strangers, and that’s okay. She has every right to take her time.
The heartbreaking part is that so many wonderful dogs like Sadie spend months waiting because they’re not the first ones to run into someone’s arms. They get passed by over and over while they watch other dogs leave for homes.
But if you’ll slow down… if you’ll give her grace… if you’ll let her learn that you’re safe…
You’ll discover one of the sweetest, most loyal girls you’ll ever meet.
She has never been aggressive, even when she’s scared. She simply needs someone willing to love her through the fear instead of walking away because of it.
🐾 She has done well with the other dogs at the shelter.
Cats are not recommended for Miss Sadie.
Some dogs need saving.
Others just need someone willing to believe they’re worth waiting for.
We believe Sadie Mae is worth every ounce of patience she’ll ask for… and when she finally gives you her heart, it’ll be one of the greatest gifts you’ve ever received.
Please don’t let this sweet girl spend another day wondering why no one chose her.
Could you be the one who finally shows Sadie Mae what forever feels like?
Adoption fee: $85
I hope the right person sees her. Dogs like Sadie often end up becoming the most devoted companions once they know they’re safe. Colbert County Animal Shelter

Just look at that face… how has this handsome boy not found his family yet?
Diesel is only about 6 months old, but he’s already spent most of his life in a shelter. He came to us when he was just 8 weeks old, and somehow he has grown from a tiny puppy into this handsome young boy while waiting for a family to notice him.
He should have been learning what it’s like to curl up on a couch, play in a backyard, and fall asleep knowing he was home. Instead, he’s watched people walk past his kennel day after day.
Already neutered
Dog friendly
People friendly
Happy, loving, and eager to please
Ready to find his forever family!
Diesel has so much love to give. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and is always excited to make a new friend. At just 6 months old, he’s still a puppy with his whole life ahead of him. All he needs is someone willing to give him a chance.
Please don’t let him spend another month growing up behind kennel doors. He deserves to know what it’s like to have a family of his own.
Please share Diesel’s story and help us find the forever home he’s been waiting for since he was just 8 weeks old. Your share could be the one that changes his life. 🐾
Adoption Fee: $85
Diesel’s adoption includes current vaccinations, a microchip, and he’s already neutered, so he’s ready to go home with his new family today!  Colbert County Animal Shelter

Waldrep is only around 1.5 years old, but he’s already lived a life no dog ever should.
When he first came to us, he was labeled as a “feral” dog. He had been dumped, had never known the comfort of a loving home, never felt the gentle touch of a human, and had never even walked on a leash. He was terrified of the world around him. Day after day, he would quietly lay in the back of his kennel with his head down, staring at the floor, convinced people weren’t meant to love him.
Then something incredible happened.
A dedicated 14-year-old volunteer refused to give up on him.
She spent countless hours sitting with him, earning his trust one small step at a time. She taught him that hands could offer love instead of fear. She showed him that walks were fun, that the outdoors were exciting, and that people could be kind. She gave him something he’d never had before…
Hope.
Today, Waldrep is almost unrecognizable from the scared dog who first arrived.
 He absolutely ADORES other dogs.
He doesn’t bother the cats at the shelter.
 He happily greets new people.
He walks on a leash and enjoys getting out to explore.
If you met him today, you would never believe where he started.
And yet…he continues to be overlooked.
Not because of his personality.
Not because of his behavior.
Not because he isn’t deserving.
Simply because he’s another black dog waiting in a kennel.
While flashier dogs come and go, Waldrep keeps waiting…watching families walk past his kennel…wondering when it will finally be his turn.
He’s waited for months.
He’s done everything we’ve asked of him.
Now all he needs is someone to say, “You’re coming home.”
Please don’t let his story end behind kennel bars.
Come meet Waldrep. Share his story. Help us find the family he’s been waiting his whole life for.
His forever home is out there…we just need it to see him.  Colbert County Animal Shelter

Please… someone give Tank a chance.
Every single day, Tank watches people walk past his kennel, hoping today will finally be the day someone stops for him.
Every single day, they keep walking.
We don’t understand why.
Tank has been waiting for a family for far too long. While other dogs come and go, he remains behind, wondering when it will finally be his turn.
The truth is, Tank doesn’t show his best self the moment you meet him. He needs a little time to trust you. But once he does… he gives you his whole heart. The love he has to offer is worth every second of patience.
He is:
Heartworm negative
Healthy as an ox
Walks beautifully on a leash
House-trained (although, like most shelter dogs, he may have an accident while settling into a new home)
Tank can be selective with other dogs, so if you have one at home, please bring them along for a meet-and-greet.
What makes this even harder is knowing how much work has been poured into this boy. Our incredible 14-year-old volunteer has spent countless hours walking him, loving him, training him, and believing in him when so many others overlooked him.
Tank has done everything we’ve asked of him.
Now we’re asking for one thing from you.
Please don’t let him grow old in a shelter kennel. Don’t let another week turn into another month of waiting for a family that never comes.
Come meet him. Sit with him. Give him the chance he hasn’t been given by so many others. Sometimes the best dogs aren’t the ones who run to greet everyone—they’re the ones whose love has to be earned, because once you’ve earned it, it’s yours forever.
Please share Tank’s story. His person is out there somewhere… they just haven’t seen him yet.
Tank’s adoption fee is just $85.  Colbert County Animal Shelter
