David A. Jones of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026.David graduated from Gadsden High School and continued his education at Gadsden State Community College and the University of Alabama. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 23 years. Following his military service, he retired from Goodyear after 39 years of dedicated employment and proudly served with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Department for 18 years. David will be remembered as a hardworking, faithful man who dedicated his life to serving others, his family, and his community.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Jones and Alma Craft; his beloved wife of 56 years, Sybil Jones; his grandson, Andrew Hester; his sisters, Sue Spurgeon and Jean Cantrell; and his daughter-in-law, Maxine Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Frank) Hester; his son, Jeff Jones; his daughter, Judith Alford; his grandson, Adam Hester; his granddaughters, Amanda (Josh) Hunter, Holly Alford, and Katie Alford; and his great-granddaughters, Ada Hunter, Jael Hunter, and Kailee Hunter.
A memorial graveside service celebrating David’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Rainbow Memorial Gardens, with Matt Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to James Memorial Baptist Church.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Vann Culberson, Mountain Cove Assisted Living, Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden Health & Rehabilitation Center, and SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to David and his family throughout his illness.
David’s legacy of honor, dedication, and love for his family will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
