James William Curtis of Nashville, Tennessee passed away Sunday July 5, 2026 at the age of 93. A native of Mt. Hermon, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Kerwin and Ruby Carter Curtis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and son, Timothy Paul Curtis.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his loving family: son Terry Curtis and daughter, Jennifer Stanek; grandchildren James Lee Curtis, Thomas Reed Curtis, April Marie Coleman, Janine Curtis Criswell Smith, and Veronica Jayne Criswell; and great grandchildren Alyssa Curtis, Taylin Coleman, Aubree Coleman, Ethel Smith, Dorothy Smith, Reagan Curtis, Austin Reed Curtis, Austin Scott Curtis, CJ Curtis, Whitney Curtis, Courtney Curtis and Tucker Curtis.
Mr. Curtis was an U.S. Army Veteran and member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ. He worked for 40 years as a professional architect in Indianapolis, Indiana; Glasgow, Kentucky; and Nashville, Tennessee.
Visitation will be 2:00PM Saturday, July 11, 2026, with funeral service beginning at 3:00PM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, with Danny McGee officiating. Interment will take place at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 1:00PM.
