Dennis Wade Thompson Profile PhotoDennis Wade Thompson, 70, passed away at his residence on Thursday, July 2, 2026. He was born in Zion, Illinois on January 30, 1956 to the late Raymond and Lois Faye Williams Thompson. Dennis was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1974. He had a longtime career as a tool and die maker at Tecumseh Engines, retiring with over 40 years of service. Prior to working at Tecumseh, Dennis worked as a machinist on off shore oil rigs. Meticulous, Dennis could engineer anything from any kind of metal and was a master at his trade. He enjoyed riding his Harley, metal detecting and collecting antiques. Dennis could also do any kind of carpenter work, once remodeling his own home. HE had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. He also enjoyed sitting down from a hard days work and listening to 70’s music and playing his guitar. Above all, Dennis was a proud father and took pride in raising his daughters as a single parent. It was his earthly mission to take care of their every need.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Cindy Carnathan, Amory and Jackie Taylor (Andrew), Baldwyn; brothers, Jerry Thompson, Tupelo, Tommy Thompson, Tupelo and Dean Thompson (Brook) Salem, OR; sister, Lori Hodges (Jim), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Caiden Collins, Salem Thompson, Asa Carnathan, Jack Taylor and Jett Taylor; a host of nieces and nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lois Thompson.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
