A Celebration of Life for Vickie Lynn Rains Rutledge will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Museum. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM on Sunday at the museum.

Vickie was born on March 9, 1965, in Livingston, TN. She worked as a phlebotomist and was a proud member of the Fayetteville Elks Lodge. A true spitfire who loved life to the fullest, you never had to wonder how Vickie felt, she always let you know and made her presence known wherever she went. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and a rare gift for seeing the good in everyone. A brave breast cancer survivor, Vickie also enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing poker and drinking Mountain Dew. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren fiercely; she loved hard, and she was deeply loved in return. Vickie passed away on June 27, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Vince Rutledge; daughters, Kalyn (Blake) George, Tara (Reggie) McGee, and Lindsay (Chad) Luttrell; grandchildren, Ellasyn Slayton, Houston George, Lynnix Slayton, and Maggie, Abbigail, and Jackson Luttrell; sisters, Shelia Brown, Gail Sparks, Lisa Dalton, and Betty Barry; and her beloved dog, Violet. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Miles DeFoe and Joretta Aldean Williams Rains.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Russell Hill Cancer Foundation, 3601 CCI Drive, Huntsville, AL 35805.

Higgins Funeral Home is privileged to offer comfort, care, and support to the family of Vickie Lynn Rains Rutledge.
