Gregory “Scott” Guthrie, 63, of Parrish, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He was deeply loved by his family and by the many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Family will be receiving friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, Monday, June 29, 2026, from 12 until 1 p.m. Service will follow at 1 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens.

Scott was a devoted father to his sons, Greg and Ben, and nothing meant more to him than his family. And Ginger “Sissy” Hitchler who he loved as his own.

After the passing of Mama Pat, he became the glue that kept everyone connected, always making sure family remained close through every season of life.

He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Duke and Jon. He especially loved watching Duke play sports and treasured every opportunity to cheer him on. His grandsons brought him endless joy.

Scott was known for his strong work ethic and genuinely loved his work, especially running heavy equipment. Outside of work, he enjoyed planting a garden and took great pride in every harvest.

He had a contagious laugh that could brighten any room and loved making people smile. Scott was known for speaking his mind – sometimes forgetting to run his words through a filter – but those who knew him best loved that about him. He was genuine, honest and fun to be around.

His family will always smile remembering how he’d remind Maggie that it was time for the boys to get their hair cut. And despite insisting he never wanted a cat, Tom found his way into Scott’s heart and became a beloved companion.

Scott will be remembered for his love of family, his laughter, his hard work and the countless memories he leaves behind. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his love and the stories he gave those who knew him will continue to live on in their hearts forever. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hedra and Patricia Ann Guthrie.

He is survived by his children, Gregory Michael Guthrie (Maggie), Benjamin Scott Guthrie (Toni) and Ginger Hitchler; grandchildren, Duke Gregory Guthrie and Jonathan Walker Guthrie; brothers, Phillip Guthrie and Michael Guthrie; sister, Kim Guthrie and a host of other relatives and friends.
