Dr. Ronald Anthony Belz, 82, of Madison, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. He was born on May 4, 1944, to Anthony and Josephine Belz in St. Joseph, Missouri. Ron lived a life marked by kindness, service, faith, and devotion to his family. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Space Institute with a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1970 and then worked for Jacob’s Engineering for 47 years, where he enjoyed a long and successful career.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Louise Belz. Together they built a loving family that remained the center of his life. He is survived by his children, Brian Belz (Heather) Stephanie Steele (James), Christine Adams (Ben), and Patrick Belz. He was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Riley, Jessica, Jocelyn, Kian, Sophie, Abby, and Suzy, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. He is survived by his siblings, Ray Belz (Carol) and Barbara Schuette (Jim), of St. Louis, Missouri, with numerous nieces and nephews.

A man of deep faith, Ron was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member and generously gave his time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. His commitment to serving others reflected the values by which he lived.

Ron was known for his laid-back nature and genuine kindness. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome. Family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike were touched by his loving spirit and generous heart. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, and the compassion he showed to everyone he encountered.

His family takes comfort in the many lives he touched and the lasting legacy of love, service, and friendship he leaves behind.

Visitation will be Monday, June 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 12 to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral mass. Interment will take place at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Knights of Columbus at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, care of Knights of Columbus Council 10232, Madison AL, 35758.
