Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Ruggeri, age 86 of Double Springs, passed away June 23, 2026 at Lakeland Medical Center in Haleyville. She was born on June 6, 1940 to Rubin and Evelyn Garrison. Betty lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a true zest for living. She enjoyed spending her time reading a good book, playing cards with family and friends, traveling to new places, trying her luck at the casino, and sewing beautiful creations for those she loved. Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Her warm smile, generous heart, and ability to make everyone feel welcome made her the center of countless family gatherings. She embraced life with enthusiasm, always ready for an adventure, a road trip, a card game, or simply sharing stories and laughter with those around her. Betty’s strength, kindness, and love of family will remain her lasting legacy. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared so freely. “A life well lived leaves a legacy of love that never fades.” Elizabeth is survived by her children, Ray (Deborah) Hood, Tammie (Eric) Morrison, Rebecca (Dan) Hogan, Lisa (Richard Hicks) Ponziano, Kelly (Kirk) Steingraber, Chris (Jill) Ruggeri; grandchildren, Matthew Hood, Steven (Juliett) Southern, Cassie Southern (Colvin) Lonergan, Melissa Corbin (Ken) Palmer, Ashley Corbin (Travis) Kennedy, Nicholas Hicks, Benjamin Hicks, Kinsey Steingraber, and Max Steingraber; great grandchildren, Talmadge Southern, Ellie Lonergan, Rhett Lonergan, Raleigh Lonergan, Isabella Kennedy, Kailynn Kennedy, Zoe Palmer, Amelia Kennedy and Roman Kennedy; brother, Marris (Barbara) Garrison; sister in law, Gloria Garrison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
