  Obituary of Charlotte Powell VaughnCharlotte Powell Vaughn, born October 19, 1949, passed away peacefully June 16th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, determination, compassion, and love.

Charlotte was the daughter of the late Clifford Powell, a decorated World War II veteran who proudly served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatres and was awarded six Bronze Stars for his service. She carried forward the same spirit of perseverance and excellence that defined her father’s life.

A beloved mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, and friend, Charlotte lived a remarkable life filled with accomplishment and purpose. She was a successful business owner and entrepreneur, as well as an award-winning real estate agent and property manager. Through her hard work, dedication, and natural ability to connect with people, she earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, clients, and friends alike.

Known throughout the community as a local basketball legend, Charlotte’s love for athletics remained with her throughout her life. A lifelong athlete, she approached every challenge with determination, grace, and a competitive spirit that inspired those around her.

Charlotte was also known for her impeccable sense of style. A true fashion icon and jewelry enthusiast, she brought elegance and confidence wherever she went. Her vibrant personality made her a social butterfly who cultivated countless friendships over the years. She never met a stranger and was loved by many for her warmth, generosity, and infectious energy.

An avid animal lover, Charlotte devoted herself to caring for many dogs and birds throughout her life. Her home was always filled with the companionship and joy that animals brought her.

Above all, Charlotte cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Matt Brown and Josh Brown and a loving grandmother to Jack, Cadence, and Carmynn. Her grandson Jack held a special place in her heart, as she helped raise him as her own son. Her family was her greatest pride and the center of her life.

Charlotte will be remembered for her strength, kindness, style, athletic spirit, entrepreneurial success, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her presence brightened every room she entered, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Matt Brown and Josh Brown; her grandson, Jack Brown; her granddaughters, Cadence Brown and Carmynn Brown; and a host of lifelong friends and admirers who will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with committal services to follow at Ararat Church Cemetery.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Charlotte’s legacy of love, friendship, and determination will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
