Franklin Monroe Fish, age 83 of Jackson, TN, passed away at home on Sunday, June 14, 2026 surrounded by his family.Franklin was born on January 17, 1943, in Bolivar, Tennessee, to the late James Monroe Fish and Ida Belle Duncan Fish.
A faithful Christian, Franklin was a longtime member of Pinson Church of Christ. He dedicated many years of service to the community, retiring from Madison County Rabies Control after 17 years. Prior to that, he worked as manager of Pic Pac and Liberty Supermarkets before joining Rabies Control. In his free time, Franklin enjoyed working outdoors and spending time gardening.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Simpson Fish; his daughter, Deborah Mitchell; his sons, Danny Fish (Tammy) and Darren Fish (Tammie); his sister, Laura Warf (Jerry); his cherished grandchildren, Jesse Fish, Marty Mitchell, Matthew Fish, Scott Fish, Micah Mitchell, and Abby Mitchell; and great grandchildren, Annabelle Fish and Carson Monroe Fish.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Fish, Euel Fish, and Lennard Fish, and his sisters, Dorothy Fish and Gracie Kirby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Fish, Marty Mitchell, Matthew Fish, Scott Fish, Micah Mitchell, and Abby Mitchell.
The family requests that memorials be made to Pinson Church of Christ or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
A visitation for Mr. Fish will be conducted on Tuesday evening, June 16, 2026 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons from 5-7 PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens with Ray Eaton officiating. Burial will follow the service.
Franklin will be remembered as a hardworking man of quiet strength, deep faith, and love for his family. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working outdoors, tending his garden, and spending time with those he loved most. His life of service, integrity, and kindness leaves a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
