HUNTSVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two vehicle accident that has take the life of a Madison woman and sent four other people to hospital. An on duty Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was driving the Ford Explorer:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:17 a.m. Saturday, June 13, has claimed the life of a Madison woman.
Jacques L. Whitt, 27, was fatally injured when the 2013 Kia Optima, she was a passenger in, was struck by the 2022 Ford Explorer driven by an on-duty Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Whitt was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Kia, Mardasha D. Woods, 30, of Huntsville, was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was also ejected. Woods and an additional passenger in the Kia, Hailey N. Tibbs, 31, of Huntsville, were injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the Ford Explorer and an intern, who was a passenger in the Ford, were both injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.
The Ford Explorer that the Deputy was driving, was an assigned Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, and the Deputy was actively responding to a call for service with the vehicle’s emergency lights and siren activated at the time of the crash.
The crash occurred on Alabama 53 near the 323 mile marker, approximately six miles northwest of Huntsville, in Madison County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
