Mary Rachel Jarrett Lamar, age 80, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Rachel was born on June 22, 1945, in Morgan County, Alabama, to Druid Jarrett and Eva Steele Jarrett.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Edgar Russeau Lamar; her parents; sisters, Reba Garner and Geraldine King; brother, Bobby Ray Jarrett; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Garner and Conrad King.
Mary retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command after a distinguished career as a Logistics Specialist. She was a faithful member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she served as organist for nearly 30 years. Her dedication to her church, family, and friends reflected a life of service, faith, and love.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Claborn (Jason) of Decatur; her son, Daniel Russeau Lamar (Chauna); her brother, Charles Jarrett (Jan); her grandchildren, Abbey Claborn, Erin Colmenero (Ethan), Kaigan Parks (Connor), and Wyatt Lamar; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Parkview Baptist Church in Decatur on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
