Mrs. Carolyn Gann Franklinage 82 of Guin, AL passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Born July 11, 1943 in Guin, AL she is the daughter of the late Ray and Lola Harrod Gann and the oldest of three children.She had lived in Guin for the majority of her life and was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed the relationships with her pastors and the friendships formed with the congregation.

Carolyn attended Guin Elementary School for her early education and was later a 1961 graduate of Marion County High School. She was retired from her working career, but the largest part of it was spent with Health-Tex in Guin where she was an embroiderer.

In the early years of her retirement, Carolyn enjoyed keeping her grandchildren in the afternoons when their school day had come to an end. She was good with flowers and enjoyed planting and taking care of them in her yard. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and particularly liked the sound of a pedal steel guitar. Ultimately, it was the simple pleasures of life revolving around family and friendships that she valued most.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 51 years – Oneil Franklin;her Daughter – Denise (Wade) Rawls; two sisters–Sue Smith and Bonnie (Barry) Ingle;two Granddaughters – Taren Holt and Brittany (Justin) Lockridge; Grandson – Dylan Holt; six Nephews – Steve Branaman, Terry Branaman, Zach (Tanya) Ingle; Tim (Elaine) Knight, Terry (Stacy) Knight, and Danny Franklin; two Nieces – Tracey Baird and Teresa (Terry) Blaylock and a host of great nephews and great nieces.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to the team from Amedisys Hospice Care for their outstanding care, comfort and compassion during Carolyn’s final days at her residence before her departure from this world to her heavenly home.

Services held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens.
