Recardo Peter Matias, age 72, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at St. Thomas West Hospital.
Born on April 28, 1954, in Framingham, Massachusetts, Recardo was the son of the late Antonio Matias and the late Isaura Hazel Medeiros Matias. In 1990, he transferred to Tennessee with Saturn and continued his career with General Motors, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2008, He was a member of the UAW. Rarely one to sit still, Recardo was always on the move and enjoyed traveling whenever he had the opportunity. His daughter affectionately referred to him as a “Rolling Stone,” a nickname that perfectly reflected his adventurous nature and love for staying active. He was loved by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his children, Jessica “Jessy” Anne (Michael) Hay, Richard “Ricky” Anthony Matias, Lauren Elizabeth Matias, Alexandra “Ally” Ann (Joe) Picciolo, grandchildren, Madi (Hayden) Lovely, Connor Hay, Claire Dempsey, Dean Joseph Picciolo, Alaina Jean Piccioli, great grandchild, Baker James Lovely, sister in law, Ann Matias, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Matias.
