Angela D. Buttrum (Angie B.), born in 1963, lived a life full of faith, family, friendship, hard work, and service to others. Raised during her first five years in Indiana, Angie later made Tennessee home, where she built a life rich in love, athletics, dedication, and devotion to the Lord.
From an early age, Angie was known for her competitive spirit and love of sports. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, where she began playing basketball, and later attended Loretto High School, excelling in basketball, volleyball, and softball at Martin Methodist College. While there, she had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel and play basketball in New Zealand, an experience she treasured throughout her life.
After her time at Martin Methodist, Angie continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Education degree in 1989.
Though she completed her teaching degree, life led Angie down a different path. She accepted a part-time position with UPS and remained there for more than 30 years, building lifelong friendships and a career marked by dedication and hard work.
After retiring from UPS, Angie returned home to Lawrenceburg and later worked for Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Women’s OB-GYN Clinic, where she enjoyed working alongside wonderful physicians and coworkers who became dear friends.
In recent years, Angie found joy in life’s simple blessings- daily walks, time spent with family and friends, and serving the Lord faithfully. She often said some of her greatest blessings in life were her mother and brothers, with whom she shared a close and loving bond.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, perseverance, and love.
Angie is survived by her loving mother, Dottie Buttrum of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; brother, Brent Buttrum and wife April of Leoma, Tennessee, along with their daughters, Bailey and Brooke; brother, Mark Buttrum of Loretto, Tennessee, along with his children, Lakin, Autumn, and Hayden; sister-in-law, Pam Buttrum of St. Joseph, Tennessee, with her sons, Luke (Kendall) and Jake Buttrum; two great-nieces, Lizzy and Lilly, and two-great nephews, Layne and Troy.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Buttrum (J.T.); her beloved grandmother, “Big Momma” Lilly Kelly; grandfather, James Kelly; grandmother, Minnie Buttrum; grandfather, Ted Buttrum; one special brother, Ronald Buttrum
Angie believed in living life with purpose and faith. Her message to those she loved was simple: “Run your race to win. Do the best you can. Worship the Lord. Be the servant He wants you to be. It will change your life.”
Special thanks and cherished memories to the Potts and Van Horn families, and to Linda Roden, cousin, who was as close to a sister as Angie ever had. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Angie will have visitation on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Loretto Memorial Chapel from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1:30 pm with Rob Johnson officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
