Funeral service for Sandra Kay Hill, age 75, of Hillsboro, will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Standridge officiating, The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Old Bethel Cemetery.
Kay passed from this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was born October 20, 1950, in Alabama, to Bynum Harris and Ethel Terry Harris Bartee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Coan; her son, Douglas Hill, Jr.; parents; two brothers, Larry Harris and David “Crocket” Harris; and two sisters, Diane Harris and Deborah “D.J.” Harris.
She is survived by her son, Dale Hill; three stepsons, Adam Coan, Brett Coan, and Caleb Coan; brother, Keith Harris; eight sisters, Brenda Hagood, Linda White, Kitty Harris, Juanelle Roberts, Penny Wilburn, Aline Norwood, Mindy Harris, and Dimples Osborn; daughter-in-law, Melody Hill; grandchildren, Noah Clay Hill, A. J. Hill, Bynum Harris, Emma Coan, Cameron Owens, Sawyer Coan, Sara Coan, Trenton Coan, Cooper Coan, Colin Coan, and Max Coan; a host of nephews and nieces who adored her; and several young men who called her Momma Kay.
Her house was often filled with boys while raising her sons. She had a daughter, Hope, by another mother whom she would say is “the daughter I never had.”
She was lovingly called Kay Kay. She retired from 3M following 34 years of service. She was the first female plant supervisor at 3M. She often heard what a great boss she was. Kay worked hard her entire life, growing up picking cotton to buy school clothes, to being able to purchase or do whatever she wanted.
One of her great loves was being outside working in her yard. Cutting grass was no chore; it was a passion for her. She would cut her yard, the neighbor’s yard, and her mother’s yard; just put her on that zero turn and she would cut until dark ran her inside.
Pallbearers will be Noah Clay Hill, Sawyer Coan, Trenton Coan, Deneal Goode, Marcus Hurst, John Landers, and Cooper Coan. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Coan, Brett Coan, Adam Coan, and Caleb Coan.
