Terry Wade Gentle, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, was born on March 23, 1952, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Selma and Louise Gentle. He was the second born of four children. Terry spent his life in and around Lake Guntersville, a place he loved deeply and proudly called home.
Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Toby Gentle, and his stepson, Billy Clardy III. He leaves behind his sister, Sandra Barker, and his brother, David Gentle, both of Hazel Green, Alabama, and their families. He is also survived by his three children, Rahn Gentle of Montgomery, Alabama, Jeb Gentle of Huntsville, Alabama and Katie Gentle of Cleveland, Tennessee; his stepson, Chris Clardy of Phoenix, Arizona; his five grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron, Keegan, Chloe and Athena; and his step-grandchildren.
Those who knew Terry will remember him as a tenderhearted soul with a fiery spirit. His true passions were fishing, hunting, Roll Tide football and spending time with his family. He was deeply proud of his family and found great joy in the time they shared together. He also loved enjoying good food and sharing those moments with the people he cared about. Terry was talented in building, construction and many other hands-on skills that reflected his hardworking nature.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, trust, genuineness, loyalty, compassion and most of all, love. He will never be forgotten, as his spirit has touched all of our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm in Valhalla’s Celebration Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
