Barbara Ann Gryde, 79, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on May 16, 2026 at her home in Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held at 6 pm, Thursday May 21 at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville with Dr. Joel Bradberry of South Side Baptist Church of Abbeville, SC, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 5pm until 6pm.
Barbara Gryde was born in Philadelphia, PA to Paul and Bernice (O’Meara) Denardo on December 13, 1946. She married Ronald Alan Gryde, Lieutenant in the United States Navy from Santa Monica, CA, on July 3, 1964. Barbara graduated later in life from the University of Texas-El Paso with a BS in Business Administration in 1996. Barbara was self-employed, working from home for many years. She was primarily a dedicated home maker, raising her daughters in Saudi Arabia and eventually El Paso, TX.
Barbara Gryde is preceded in death by Paul Denardo (father), Bernice (O’Meara) Tomes (mother), Ellis Tomes (step father), and David Vance (son in law). Barbara Gryde is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald Gryde of Huntsville; daughters Sheryl Vance-Clark (Charles) of Shelbyville, TN., and Kristine Bradberry (Chris) of Madison, AL; a sister, Donna Viadella of Santa Maria, CA; and seven grandchildren, Aaron Vance, Matthew Vance, Josh Vance, Andrew Vance, Kevin Bradberry, Sarah Bradberry, and Rachel Bradberry.
Flowers or memorial donations may be received at Spry Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, be made to the American Cancer Society of Huntsville. The family of Barbara Gryde wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Edineuza Smith and Mr. Jeff Lancaster who were caregivers at first, but became dear friends of Barbara, and often helping her through difficult trials in her life.
