Funeral Services for Sandra Gibson Edmondson, age 69, will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. Mark Kytan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until service time at 6:30.
Sandra passed away on Saturday May 16, 2026 at the Clay County Nursing Home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, and a Mellow Valley High School graduate. She was a very hard worker, having worked at Higgins Mfg., Wellborn Cabinets, over 20 years at Dollar General, Jacks, over 36 years for the Clay County Board of Education as a Bus Driver. Sandra was a member of Lineville Baptist Church, and always enjoyed participating in the Samaritan’s Purse and Shoebox Ministries. She had also been attending Concord Baptist Church in recent years, and enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach and with her little dog “Poppy”.
She is survived by her daughter Jil Hunkapiller (Jeffery) of Lineville, her son, Westley Edmondson (Kelli) of Lagrange, Ga., six grandchildren; Jaxson Hunkapiller, Kelsea Hester, Kyitelii Thompson, Kyva Wilson, and Kia Wilson, six great-grandchildren; Kailena, Kallen, Kyilar, Kolijah, Koleson and Koraline, her sister; Brenda Kytan (Mark) of Cragford, and her brother; Chris Gibson (Charlotte) of Lineville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; U.C. Buster and Laverne Denney Gibson, and a sister; Debra Lambert.
