Funeral Services for Barry Ray “Frog” Sprayberry, age 65 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at his favorite Alabama football kickoff time, 2:30 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Sprayberry passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Clay County Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Clay County, Alabama and spent his entire life rooted in the community he loved and proudly called home. He graduated from Lineville High School in 1980 and soon after began his career at Wellborn Cabinets. Over the course of 43 dedicated years, he worked his way through many roles including cabinet builder, painter, and even trained his own eventual supervisors before retiring. He was known by coworkers and friends alike as a dependable, hardworking man who took pride in every task and gave his best each day. He was a devoted football fan, supporting Alabama football, the Lineville Aggies, and the Clay Central Volunteers. His family lovingly remembers his many superstitions — always jingling the change in his pockets and pacing during games, hoping to bring good luck to his team. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, walking at the park, loafing around with family and friends, and drinking a cold R.C. Cola. The simple moments in life brought him the greatest joy. Above all else, he was deeply dedicated to his family. He was a loyal and loving grandfather who treasured his grandchildren and supported them in every way possible. His presence at their games, events, and milestones was something they could always count on. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was survived by his wife, Patricia Sprayberry of Lineville; his sons: Cory Sprayberry (Carrie) of Bluff Springs and Cody Sprayberry of Lineville; his grandchildren, Addison, Abbigail, Willow, and Elijah Ray; one sister, Helen Tapley of Lineville; a niece, Brandi Clark (Kevin); a nephew, Patrick Green; his great nieces and nephews: Chase Phillips (fiancé Kassye), Damien Clark, Jadon Phillips, Taylor Tapley and Olivia Tapley; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Ray Sprayberry and Mary Louise Feazell Sprayberry; an infant brother; a nephew, Chad Tapley; and a brother in law, Jerry Tapley.

Active pallbearers will be Chase Phillips, Damien Clark, Jadon Phillips, Patrick Green, and Jerry “Scoot” Jett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Mitchell, Mike Sprayberry and Jerry Edmondson.

His visitation will take place on Wednesday May 20, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
