2025 SSAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships Return to Oakville Indian Mounds Park this Weekend!

DECATUR-The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships are set to return to Oakville Indian Mounds Park, located at 1219 County Road 187, Danville, AL 35619, for the eighth consecutive year. Collegiate athletes from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, and Tennessee will compete for the conference title in this premier fall event.

The women’s 6K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. CST, followed by the men’s 8K at 9:15 a.m. CST. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the races and support their favorite teams and runners. Admission is free, and leashed dogs are welcome on-site.

This season’s standout athletes include UT Southern’s Frank Kipruto, who clocked a top men’s 8K time of 24:28.6, and William Carey’s Kristina Stojanovic, leading the women’s division with a 22:14.8 in the 6K.

The event is hosted in partnership with Decatur Morgan County Tourism, a key supporter of several SSAC championships, including cross country, competitive cheer, and softball.

Spectators can also enjoy food trucks and explore the scenic trails and cultural history of Oakville Indian Mounds Park throughout the morning. For park information, contact (256) 905-2499.
