SHEFFIELD – Ronda Hood, Cardiopulmonary Services Director, was re-elected to represent the Alabama Society for Respiratory Care to the House of Delegates for the American Association for Respiratory Care for a four-year term.
The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is the leading national and international professional association for respiratory care. The AARC encourages and promotes professional excellence, advances the science and practice of respiratory care, and serves as an advocate for patients and their families, the public, the profession and the respiratory therapist. Two representatives are elected to represent each state in the AARC. Representatives attend two national meetings a year.
Hood has been active in the Alabama Society for Respiratory Care since 1981. Throughout these years, she has held many roles including treasurer and president. “I’m excited that the people within the state chose to elect me. It’s an honor to get to represent them and to be involved in the decision-making on the state and national level,” said Hood. In addition to her role as the Cardiopulmonary Services Director, she is also the Safety Officer at Helen Keller Hospital. She has been with Helen Keller Hospital for 22 years. Hood also served as the first chairman of the Alabama State Board for Respiratory Therapy from 2004 to 2006.
Hood has one son, Brandon, and two grandchildren, Layla Grace and Brayden.
