December Events To Start The Holidays Right In Colbert County

December is a busy month in Colbert County | COLBERT COUNTY-The Colbert County Torurism Board has release a treasure trove of events happening in Colbert County for the month of December.  Holiday Spirit in store for everyone!

December 1-3, 2022 – Christmas Cabaret @the Ritz, Ritz Studio, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Kick off your holiday season in the intimate Ritz Studio with the Christmas Cabaret. Enjoy a charming evening of classic holiday songs directed by Joey Wright. Your will get to enjoy performances by a stellar cast of local vocalists: Karly Herring, Natalie Thrasher, Hannah Grace Thompson, Macy Ladner, Allison Cole, Jacob Adams, Tanner Rhodes, and Avery Guinn. Wine, beer, water, and soda will be available to purchase. General admission tickets ($15+tax) are available online: tennesseevalleyarts.org.

Shows begin at 7pm.

December 2, 2022 – Cirque de la Symphonie, Flowers Hall, 701 N Pine St, Florence (UNA Campus). The breathtaking, gravity-defying artists of Cirque de la Symphonie return to Flowers Hall of the UNA campus for a performance of high-flying excitement and incredible music. Be dazzled by worldclass acrobats, aerial flyers, contortionists, jugglers, and tumblers in a musical Cirque wonderland, all set to familiar Holiday Classics! Show begins at 7 pm. December 3, 2022 – Christmas Brunch with Dolores Hydock, Clarion Inn, 4900 Hatch Blvd, Sheffield. The Friends of Sheffield Public Library present the incredible storyteller Dolores Hydock. Enjoy a      festive Christmas brunch while enjoying her hilarious and captivating stories, beginning at 10 am. Tickets ($25) may be purchased at the Sheffield Public Library. Contact:  256-386-5633

December 3, 2022 – Festival of Yule, Main Street in downtown Tuscumbia. Enjoy a day of food,      entertainment, arts, crafts, and goods by local vendors. Food trucks will be available as well as local restaurants open. Festival will take place 1-9 pm in downtown Tuscumbia, hosted by Hesperia Mystic Shoppe.

December 9, 2022 – Prancer, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Based on the cherished film,  Prancer, this piece uses a heartwarming story and breathtaking puppetry to bring light into your  holiday season. Prancer is a production of Time Out for Theatre, The Ritz’s children’s theatre program. Performances will be at 2pm and 7:30pm. Tickets ($10) are available: tennesseevalleyarts.org

December 9, 2022 – Santa & Singing at Old Grace, Old Grace Venue, 700 N Montgomery Ave,   Sheffield. Join Santa Creel & Mrs. Claus for a sing along with the Cane Creek Cliff Dwellers. Santa & Mrs. Claus will arrive at 6 pm and will be available for photos 6-7:30pm. Music will begin at 6:30 pm.

Tickets will be sold at the door: $5 adults, 12 and under free.

December 9, 2022 – Run Run Rudolph 5K & Fun Run, Spring Park, Tuscumbia. An evening for both serious runners and the whole family! It will be filled with a Christmas Experience of Colorful Water Displays and Musical Christmas Carols. Runners will experience the beautiful Christmas lights and displays running through downtown Tuscumbia. Snow will be falling and Rudolph may even show up! Registration not necessary for those not competing for the run trophies.  Come enjoy the Christmas

December 9, 13, 20, & 22, 2021, Christmas at the Ritz Movie Series, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St,        Sheffield. Watch your favorite Christmas movies on the big screen at the Ritz, which is decked out for the season. Concessions will be available, including fresh popcorn, hot cocoa, wine, beer, soda, water, and candy. Each show starts 7 pm. Tickets ($10) available online or at the door. Call for group rates. December 10—12th Annual “It’s a Dickens Christmas Y’all” Festival, Various Downtown locations.

Tuscumbia is transformed by this holiday festival reminiscent of Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.” There are carriage rides in town throughout the day along with carolers, Dickens characters, and falling snow. There are other unique activities like cookie decorating, dog costume parade, s’mores in Pocket Park, and milk and cookies with Tiny Tim. Music and poetry at St. John’s Episcopal Church, trolley tours, vendors, and a Holiday High Tea at Locust Hill.  Admission is charged for some events.

December 10, 2022 – Christmas at Ivy Green, 300 North Commons W, Tuscumbia. Beautiful live     holiday decorations adorn the historic birthplace and home of America’s First Lady of Courage,  Helen Keller. Open 8:30am-4pm. Sponsored by the Council of Local Garden Clubs.  Admission is charged.  Info: 256-383-4066

December 15, 2022 – We Rocked the World Songwriters in the Round: Holiday Edition, Alabama    Music Hall of Fame, 617 Hwy 72 W, Tuscumbia. The 2022 finale of the popular singer/songwriter series will be hosted by Billy Lawson. The concert will feature renowned artists Mark Narmore, Bobby Tomberlin, and Tess Frizell – a member of one of Country music’s most legendary families

December 16 & 17, 2022 – Polar Express Trolley & Santa Event, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield.

The Ritz Theatre is hosting two evenings of magic, all themed around the holiday classic The Polar Express! Starting at 6 pm, you’ll get to ride a trolley with Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, make an ornament, and have festive family fun! Then at 7 pm, we’ll watch the movie on our big screen in the historic Ritz Theatre, which will be decked out for the season!
