Florence Man Indicted For Financial Exploitation Of The Elderly

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement concerning the indictment of a Florence man on 1st Degree Financial Exploitation of the Elderly among other charges:

“On June 7, 2022, at approximately 8:30 PM, Benjamin Letson was arrested on two Grand Jury warrants stemming from a 2020 case where he stole bank checks and a debit card from his mother. 

Letson then used the checks and bank card to purchase items from local businesses in Florence.  Mr. Letson also failed to pay his mother’s healthcare bills and provide proper care for her. 

Letson is charged with Possessing a Forged Instrument and Financial Exploitation of the Elderly 1st Degree.  He is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $42,000 bond.  

*Letson is innocent until proven guilty* ”
