Clara Hood Thomas – Obituary

ClaraClara Hood Thomas, age 94 of Haleyville, entered into rest on Friday, February 15, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on May 17, 1918 in Rabbit Town, Alabama to Arthur and Sarah Frost Hood. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Her hobbies were gardening, quilting and crocheting.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 9:30-10am at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held at 10am. Brother Wayne Hood will officiate. Burial will be in Frost Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son, Tony Barnes and his wife, Tena; daughter, Doris Barnes; she was “Maw Maw” to 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, 1 great, great, great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Thomas; parents, Arthur and Sarah Hood; daughter, Barbara Noble; son-in-law, Marvin Barnes; brothers, Howard, Wallace, Talmage Hood; sisters, Bessy Carpenter, Lorene Grubbs, Flora Riddle, Willie Hood, Chelsey Hood and Earlene Hood.
