Alan Creig Sherrer Profile Photo Alan Creig Sherrer, age 61, of Tupelo, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home in Tupelo.

Born on March 17, 1963, to Al Austin Sherrer and Ruth Naomi Castle Sherrer in Greenville, MS, Creig’s life was a tapestry of kindness, dedication, and love. His journey led him through Greenville Christian School and Delta State University where he pursued his passion for Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. It was there that he honed his craft as an instructor – a role in which he shone brightly. Students eagerly filled his classes during registration as they were drawn to his expertise and gentle guidance.

Creig’s professional path meandered through Mississippi Delta Community College and Itawamba Community College before embracing a new chapter in real estate with Century 21, Coldwell Banker, and Rachel Ray Real Estate. Even after retiring in 2018, his love for teaching beckoned him back to the classroom at Blue Mountain Christian University in 2023.

Not only was Creig admired for his professional accomplishments but also cherished for his musical talents. Alongside his dear friends Larry Hays, Kenny Williams, and Andrea Hays, he found joy in singing – a passion that enriched his life. Among the many highlights was sharing the stage as the opening act for George Jones at Itawamba Community College.

Family meant everything to Creig; his wife Margaret Angela Sherrer of 38 years was his rock. His children Holly S. Griffin (Lee) and Matthew Creig Sherrer were the center of his universe along with his beloved grandchildren Fendley Kay Sherrer, John Alan Griffin, and Olivia Claire Griffin.

As a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend whose love knew no bounds; Creig’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Angela Sherrer; children Holly S. Griffin (Lee) and Matthew Creig Sherrer (Mika Roach); grandchildren Fendley Kay Sherrer, John Alan Griffin, and Olivia Claire Griffin; mother Ruth Sherrer; brothers Brian Keith “Skeeter” Sherrer (Tracy) and Brad Sherrer; nephews Jay Schroeder and Jonathan Byrd (Angela); niece Erin Thibodeaux; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.

Creig and Angie are a member of the First Baptist Church Tupelo. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all the love and support of the church family during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held Saturday April 27, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Tupelo from 10:00 am until 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11:00 AM officiated by Reverend David Langerfeild and Reverend Tim Green.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Hays, Kenny Williams, Ron McNeer, Mike Hendrix, Brady Garrett, Keith Spealman, Ty Smith, Eddie Sullivan, Bill Cheek, Curtis Davis, Philip Ritchey, Charles Byrd, Phillip Byrd and Kenny Cocker.

In honor of a life well-lived yet cut short too soon; may we find solace in the memories woven by Alan Creig Sherrer – a remarkable soul who touched countless hearts along his journey.

Glenfield Funeral Home of New Albany has been entrusted with the service arrangements.
