Eddy Ray Alexander, Sr.

Eddy Ray Alexander, Sr., 73, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his home. He was born June 14, 1948, in Tupelo, to Ernest Hoyt and Lydia Louise Mauldin Alexander. He owned Holiday Auto Parts in Southaven early in his working career. He later was a mechanic for Federal Express in Southaven, where he retired from after 38 years of service. His true love was dirt track racing, where he won 639 races in his career. He built the motors for his highly successful race cars, which was number F 80. He moved to Mantachie from Southaven about 14 years ago.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Friendship Baptist Church with Steve Mize officiating. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Mize Alexander; six children, Kim Jones (Jim), Tiffany Rogers (Steven), Ray Alexander (Amber), Misty Frederick, Samantha Morris (Trey), Colton Sullivan (Bailey); 21 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Huby Cody; and his parents.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Friendship Baptist Church.
