Kay Gassaway, 58, died Monday, February 22, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Alabama to Claude William “Bill” and Betty Leathers Padgett. She worked as an office clerk for twenty years and was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be Wednesday, February 24, 3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Andy Barnett and Bro. Lloyd Minor officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by the father of her children – Randy Gassaway (Rose); two children – Megan Roberts (Staden) and Brady Gassaway; special nephew – Haden Deaton; four sisters – Terri Smith (Mark Wells), Janie Underwood), Peggy Downs (Scott) and Claudia Smith (Greg) and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Jason Deaton, her grandmother, Dolly Leathers and her father-in-law, Jerry Gassaway.

Pallbearers will be Danny John Emerson, Benny Johnson, Dewayne Palmer, Harold Wayne Leathers, Gary Lindsey and Marc Raper.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Gassaway, Ralph Winchester, Scott Downs and Dale White.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
