Deacon Arthur Mastin  Funeral service for Deacon Arthur Mastin (a native of Huntsville) will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 12:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home (811 Finley Drive – Albion, MI 49224) with Pastor Bobby J. McKenzie officiating. Visitation with the family will be be one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.

OBITUARY

Arthur Mastin was born November 2nd 1936 in Huntsville, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. Green L. Mastin. He went home to be with the Lord on September 7th, 2020. Arthur married Odell Leslie on April 20th, 1957 and the two moved to Albion Michigan in 1967. Arthur took a job at Harvard Industries where he worked over 35 years until his retirement. He also worked at Hayward Reed Furniture Store, Albion College, and Albion Public Schools.

Arthur Mastin joined Macedonia Baptist church soon after moving to Albion and continued to be an active member and leader until his passing. While at Macedonia, Arthur served in countless ministry positions including; Superintendent of Sunday school, member of the Male Chorus, Senior Chorus, Sunday school teacher, completed janitorial work, church maintenance, a bus driver, and served over 50 years on the Deacon Board. He served under 6 pastors; including Macedonia’s current pastor, Pastor Bobby McKenzie. In 2019 Arthur was the first ever to be named “Mr. Macedonia” where he was honored for his years of service and impact on the ministry. Arthur loved his Pastor and church family.

Arthur naturally was a servant in the community, providing rides for the elderly, served as a Cub Scout leader, president of the neighbor watch, and you could always catch him cutting someone’s lawn.

Arthur leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Odell Mastin, four sons: Lewis (Gina) Mastin of Huntsville AL, Vincent Mastin of Albion MI, Mark Mastin of Albion MI, Phillip (Stephanie) Mastin of Albion MI. 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters; Nadene Mastin, Mary Jane Atchison, and Annie Ruth (Jessie) Jackson, two sisters in law; Marie Stewart and Gladys Mastin, and a host of nieces and nephews. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, his daughter Gale Mastin and son Ricky Mastin.
