Mrs. Mary Kathryn Whitaker, age 70, of Arab, Alabama, died on Friday, February 14, 2020 at her residence.
Mrs. Whitaker was born in Morgan County, Alabama on February 8, 1950 to the late Millard Bearden and Mae Hugh Hodge Bearden. Mary lived her life to the fullest, and worked from home as a homemaker, she loved to sing at the Baptist church, taking trips on cruise ships, motor cycle riding, fishing, and most of all loving her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband of 38 years, James Edward Whitaker; two sons, Derek Bearden (Teresa), and Steven Dwight Bearden; stepdaughter, Jamie Melissa Prince (Danny); one brother, William Rayford Bearden; one sister, Edna Mae Bearden; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents; Mary is preceded in death by two brothers, Millard Bearden, and Jerry Wayne Bearden; and two sisters, Virginia “Honey” Bearden, and Nellie Faye Bearden.
A visitation for Mrs. Whitaker will be held at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Mary will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel with Bro. Carl Cash, officiating. Burial is to follow at the Bartee Cemetery in Lacey Springs.
Pallbearers will include; Jackie Whitaker, Joey Bearden, David Bearden, Mike Simmons, Larry Lang, Casey White, and Chris Jennings.
