SHEFFIELD – Dan Jackson, director of Diagnostic Imaging at Helen Keller Hospital, was recently honored for his dedication to the health care field by the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHa). Dan was recognized at a luncheon in Decatur, hosted by the North Alabama Regional Council of the Alabama Hospital Association, which was one of seven regional awards presentations held as part of AlaHa’s 10th annual statewide “Hospital Hero” award contest.
The “Hospital Hero” contest recognizes the value of health careers and honors hospital employees who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the health care field. “AlaHa is honored to recognize those outstanding caregivers who go above and beyond the call of duty to help their co-workers and make their patients feel special,” said J. Michael Horsley, FACHE, president of the Alabama Hospital Association. “These amazing individuals deserve to be called heroes, not only because they are an inspiration to their colleagues, but also because they have raised the bar in terms of what it means to provide exceptional patient care.” The contest will culminate with a banquet in February, where up to 10 of the regional winners will be honored as statewide Hospital Heroes.

Dan Jackson was one of five hospital employees honored at the regional luncheon. Jackson has more than 22 years of health care experience and has been a Helen Keller Hospital employee since 2006. In addition to his leadership and implementing state-of-the-art imaging equipment at the hospital, Jackson serves on numerous hospital committees and assists the Helen Keller Hospital Foundation with fundraising. Jackson is active in his community, including church with medical mission trips and the Leadership Shoals program with the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. Jackson was nominated by his peers for his service to his workplace, the patients of Helen Keller Hospital, the community, and by doing all of this while caring for his wife, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2011.
