FLORENCE-Mayor Steve Holt is proud to congratulate the City-Wide Clean-Up volunteers and City of Florence employees for being named the Governor’s Award City Category Winner by Alabama’s People Against a Littered State (PALS) and Governor Kay Ivey.

The Florence Citywide Clean-Up Day is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office, PALS, Florence Solid Waste, Street, & Recycle Department, Keep the Shoals Beautiful, Waste Connections, Inc. and Florence Gas and Water to name a few. For the last decade, the City of Florence has gathered on a designated Saturday in March to pick up thousands of pounds of litter. In a matter of hours, volunteers boast a much cleaner city, and enjoy a huge sense of accomplishment and community satisfaction!

Groups and individuals join forces to clean the streets, parks, creeks, and river. This past spring, 479 people representing 41 organizations collected 12,900 pounds of litter and debris. Thank you to all participants for the work you do to make our city a clean and beautiful place to live. Alabama’s PALS organization and Governor Kay Ivey see the difference you make!

The date is set for next year’s City-Wide Clean-Up on March 14, 2020. Groups and individuals can register now by emailing recycle@florenceal.org or online at Eventbrite.
