John William Goodwin, Jr. was born in Ripley, Tennessee on September 27, 1925, the son of the late John William Goodwin, Sr. and Mattie Lou Goodwin. On July 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Iven Virginia White, who survives. John departed this life on August 30, 2019, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 3 days.
John attended Landmark Pentecostal Church in Stantonville, Tennessee. He lived in Michie, Tennessee for over 50 years. John enjoyed fishing and selling fruit. He sold a lot of apples on the Court Square in Selmer, Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Iven, John is survived by his daughters, Donna Curtis of Shiloh, Tennessee, Cynthia May and husband James of Leoma, Tennessee, and Jackie Hamm and husband Jackie of Adamsville, Tennessee; son, Mitchell Goodwin and wife Vickie of Medina, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Goodwin, R.J. Goodwin, and Clyde Goodwin, and his sisters, Sue Goodwin and Orease Walker.
