FLORENCE-It’s time to replenish Chloe’s Fund and we’re doing it in style with a Red, White & Blue Bake Sale on Friday, June 28. Chloe’s Fund has given medical care to hundreds of Florence Lauderdale Animal Services animals in need and the veterinary bills are high! All proceeds from the sale of baked goods benefit Chloe’s Fund; in addition to the delectable treats, we’ll have Gift Baskets and assorted presents for animal lovers to purchase. Everything will be available from 8am-2pm on Friday, June 28 at the Florence-Lauderdale Government Building, located at 102 S. Court Street (the building with time and temperature on top) in downtown Florence.

Bakers are also needed to contribute their goodies to the Sale. All kinds of home-made cakes, cookies, pies, especially in red, white and/or blue are appreciated. Individual cake slices, groups of cookies, lemon bars, or the like must be wrapped individually and marked with item name. You can drop off baked goods on Thursday, June 27th at the Florence Lauderdale Animal Services Building (3240 Roberson Road in the Florence Industrial Park) from 11am-5pm. If you have any questions please call Dianne at 256-740-2386.

Chloe’s Fund was started in March of 2017 after Shelter volunteers, Glen and Debby Nelson lost their beloved dog of 16 years, Chloe. After Chloe’s passing, Debby set out on a mission to help as many sick and injured Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter animals as possible. Since its inception, Chloe’s Fund vetted countless number of cats and dogs suffering from various illnesses and in need of medical attention and medication. Prior to Chloe’s Fund, the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter could not treat every unwell cat or dog that entered its doors. Their only hope was the possibility of a rescue organization stepping up and financing the needed veterinary care. For those animals with costly medical bills predicted and no rescue hero in sight, our dedicated shelter employees were faced with heartbreaking decisions; these decisions never get easier and no one ever willingly wants to make them.

With your help, Chloe’s Fund can continue to save the lives of hundreds of animals.
