Athens Police Arrest Suspect For Theft Of Vehicle 1st Degree

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement regarding the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday, April 17 who has been charged with theft of property 1st and several other charges:

“Yesterday morning (Tuesday, April 16) the police department received a call of a burglary at Professional Car Care on HWY 31 south.The owner told officers he was missing 2 framed two dollar bills, a set of keys and a 2018 Chevrolet Cruz.

Later in the day Investigators Jarrod Smith and Jonathan Caldwell located the Cruz in Decatur and arrested Jaylen Edward Jordan for theft of the vehicle. Jordan was transported from Decatur back to the Athens Police Department. Once arriving at the police department but before entering a secure area Jordan took off running. Officer Brandon Colburn apprehended Jordan in a yard off Pryor Street near the old Sweet Sue plant.

Jordan has been charged with burglary 3rd degree for breaking into Professional Car Care, theft of property first degree for theft of the car, 4 counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle for unlawfully entering four cars on Roy Long Road and one count of Escape 3rd degree. Jordan was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
