(CRB) presented a $25,000 scholarship endowment to the University of North Alabama Department of Communications during the Country Radio Seminar’s opening ceremonies in Nashville, Tennessee, this week.

Accredited universities that have a TV/Film/Radio or Music Business program are eligible for the CRB’s annual award. Dr. Butler Cain, chair of the Department of Communications, submitted an application last fall and was notified of UNA’s selection in January.

“This scholarship endowment will provide our department with a significant opportunity to recruit talented students who want to study mass communication and radio broadcasting in particular,” Cain said. “We are grateful to Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., for recognizing our academic department with this gift and helping us ensure a bright future for audio and radio programming.”

According to its website, CRB is a 501c3 non-profit industry service organization created to provide a platform and structure for education and growth for the country music format. It is responsible for the annual Country Radio Seminar, a three-day event including educational programming, professional panels, presentations on new technology, and new music showcases.

“We are so excited to partner with Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc,” said Barbie Terry, UNA interim AVP for Advancement.  “These types of awards provide invaluable opportunities for our students and help spotlight the work they do every day. Oftentimes, a scholarship is the difference in a student coming to college or not, and CRB is helping us pave the road for more students,” she said.
