On Saturday, December 15, 2018, Ruby Joyce (Gilbreath) Wilson of Albertville passed away at the age of 85.
Ruby was born on November 4, 1933, in Crossville, Al to General Lee and Hattie Mae (Young) Gilbreath and the youngest of six children. She grew up in a rural farming community back in the days when everyone had to work in the fields gathering crops by hand and she enjoyed everything about farm life. She’s been a lifelong member of Gilbreath Chapel Baptist Church which was established by her grandparents located in the Painter Community of Dekalb County.
On November 12, 1949, she married Melvin Wilson of Dawson, Al, a World War II Veteran. Ruby and Melvin had eight children. In her own words, her greatest accomplishment and what she was most proud of was raising her children and being a good mother. She is much loved and respected by her children and the appreciation and admiration they feel for her is endless. She is a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and truly treasured.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Don Wilson, as well as her parents, husband and all her siblings. She is survived by her children, Janet *Raymond) Alexander, Tyrone “Butch” Wilson, Joanie (William) Isbell, Timothy (Brenda) Wilson, Lisa Wilson, Scotty Wilson, Joanna (Robert) Womack, Two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a close friend of the family Steve Kaple.
Ruby requested a private funeral and burial service to be provided by Adams Brown Service Funeral Home of Albertville and burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
Her children, grandchildren, and nephews will serve as Pallbearers. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness as well as friends and family for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
