Funeral service for Phillip Ray Hurst, who died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, was Sunday, Oct. 14, at Lawrence Funeral Home. Bro. Shane Williams officiated.

Burial was in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Hurst was born June 2, 1940 in Crittenden County, Ken., to Thomas (Tommy) Miller Hurst and Mamie Croft Hurst Johnson.

Mr. Hurst was a retired carpenter with Craig Construction. He was a member of Hatton Masonic Lodge #879 and a member of Carpenter’s Local, Sheffield.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert Owen Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Margrette Daniel Hurst; three sons, Phillip Owen Hurst and Christopher Dewayne Hurst, both of Moulton and William Marcus Hurst (Stacy) of Hillsboro; four daughters, Debby Wright, Moulton, Rhonda Prete and Vickie Bologna, both of Illinois, and Mamie Hurst Roberson (Lamar) of Mt. Hope; two brothers, C. V. Hurst of Arizona and Tommy Hurst of Ken.; four sisters, Joan McDonald and Thelma Boyle, both of Arizona, Sharon Babb of Oklahoma and Patsy Brown of Ken.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chris Hurst, Marcus Hurst, Faron Terry, Tony Parker, Matthew Steadman, Brian Thrasher, Mark Bradford and Jeff Flannagin.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Gaddis, Alvin Terry, Thaniel Burden and Cleavon Burden.
