ATHENS – Sponsorship opportunities remain available for Athens’ North Pole Stroll set for December 1-30, 2018. Now in its fourth year, the North Pole Stroll is a display of live cut, beautifully decorated Christmas trees located in Big Spring Memorial Park in the Historic Beaty District. Sponsorships are available at $100 per tree. The deadline to become a sponsor is October 30, 2018.

Each year in partnership with Lowes of Athens, Big Spring Memorial Park is transformed into a winter wonderland. The seven-foot beautiful Frasier Fur trees are decorated by members of the community, local businesses and civic groups. One of the conditions for the décor is to keep it as green-friendly as possible. Any color of solar-powered LED lights may be used.

Each tree is sponsored by a local corporation, church, civic group or family, and decorated by its sponsor. Trees can have themes that match the company’s mission or they can be uniquely designed. Each tree has a sign with the sponsor’s name. “Sponsoring a tree is a great way to market your business, boost employee morale and just be creative,” said Teresa Todd, president of the Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association.

Tree sponsorships are available for the price of $100. Tree sponsors will receive signage at the stroll and logo placement on the event’s website. For a business that would like to support the event and may not have time to decorate, the tree can be matched up with a suitable nonprofit organization to handle the decorations. The deadline to become a sponsor is October 30. The Athens City Parks and Recreation Department stands each tree and trees will be ready for decorating by Thanksgiving Day.

“This Christmas gift to residents and guests of Limestone County began as a means to bring families together during the Christmas holidays,” added Todd. “This now designated holiday hallmark event was selected as the ‘Top Twenty Event in 2018’ by Southeast Tourism Society. The Athens North Pole Stroll has been cause for celebration for hundreds of couples, families and those who would otherwise not have the opportunity to share in such a festive manner for Christmas.”

The North Pole Stroll is organized by Athens-Limestone Tourism Association, and supported by Lowes of Athens, City of Athens, Limestone County Commission, City of Athens Parks and Recreation and Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful.

The North Pole Stroll is open to the public daily December 1-30 until midnight. Admission is free. For one night only, Santa makes an appearance for an evening of Letters to Santa. After Santa has met with all of the good boys and girls the jolly old man rallies everyone together for a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
