Lane Clark Toney, 53, of Lawrenceburg, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior, July 7, 2018 after a heroic battle with cancer.
Lane’s visitation (closed casket) will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Neal Funeral Home, 231 North Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.
His funeral (closed casket) will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10 am at his home church, New Prospect Baptist Church, 3911 Pulaski Highway, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 with Brad Lowery and Mark Threadgill officiating.
Graveside services will be held in Corinth, MS on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 3 pm at the Valley of the Dogwood Cemetery, 3372 County Road 100, Corinth, MS 38834.
It was Lane’s heartfelt desire to provide a way for all students to have the opportunity to learn music and purchase band instruments and therefore has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Music Makes the Difference Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/music-makes-the-difference.

Lane was born in Lake Providence, LA on April 30, 1965 to Wesley and Allie Toney. He married the love of his life Deonna Davis on December 23, 1991. Lane graduated from Yazoo City High School in Yazoo City, MS and received a bachelor of music education degree from Southern Mississippi University in Hattiesburg, MS. Lane was the beloved band director at E. O. Coffman Middle School and assistant band director Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was also a member of Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, a member of the Foster Party of 8 horn line, and a member of the praise team at New Prospect Baptist Church.
He will be missed by family, friends, students and colleagues as he loved and was loved by many. He frequently challenged his students, “Be the best you can be and that will be good enough.”
Lane is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deonna Davis Toney and their two children Devin Sean Toney and Madison Lindsey Toney. He is also survived by his mother Allie Clark Toney of Corinth, MS, sister Debbie Samples of Waxahachie, TX, brother Steve Toney (Debbie) of Oville, TX and sister Robin Jarnagin (David) of Corinth, MS, nephews Skye Samples (Amy) and Andrew Jarnagin and niece Addyson Jarnagin. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, in-laws, nephews and a host of lifelong friends.
Lane was preceded in death by his father Wesley Joseph Toney and sister Libby Dawn Toney.
